Arirang weather 2023.3.15



Good afternoon. There has been a big rise in highs in the southern provinces, easily surpassing 20 degrees Celsius, while the capital region is having slightly lower highs this afternoon under cloudier skies. Wet clouds are forecast to drop spotty rain in northern parts of Gyeonggi-do and Gangwon-do, central regions will see less rainfall which won't be enough to ease the dryness in the air.
Seoul, south of Gyeonggi-do and parts of the south remain under a dry weather advisory, what's more, strong wind will also boost the risk of wildfire, in fact, mountainous regions in Gangwon-do Province are under a strong wind advisory.
Those in the south are having a warm day with partly sunny skies. Air quality stays decent during the day before going up to bad levels tonight in Chungcheong-do and Jeollabuk-do Provinces.
Our morning temperatures will drop to near freezing for the next few days, be mindful of more temperature swings and dress accordingly.

Good afternoon. After a chilly start, temperatures are rebounding quite nicely along with warm southwesterly winds, meaning temperature gaps between lows and highs can be as wide as 15 degrees. It's easy to come down with a cold around this time. Take good care of yourself.
Afternoon temperatures are going up 7 to 8 degrees higher than yesterday in most parts, southern parts of the country are seeing highs near 20 degrees this afternoon.
Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated, a dry weather advisory has been re-issued in some parts of Korea including here in Seoul.
Skies have gotten brighter with normal to good air quality nationwide. It's a good day for an afternoon walk.
But, be mindful of more up and down temperatures, meanwhile, strong wind is expected through tomorrow blowing in excess of 25 meters per second which is strong enough to uproot trees. Take precautionary measures to secure your property.

Good afternoon. Forget about last week's March record warmth, we are back to late winter like conditions along with biting winds. Cold wave alerts were even issued across Korea as morning temperatures dropped 8 to 13 degrees Celsius lower than Sunday morning.
High winds in coastal regions will climb in excess of 20 meters per second, with a strong wind advisory issued in those areas, take precautions against strong winds.
But thanks to the cold wind, most of the dust in the air has been pushed away, it was pretty dusty through the weekend. Meanwhile, those in the south feel even colder today with highs dropping about 7 degrees lower than yesterday. Sunny skies to dominate most of the country all day.
The cold snap eases tomorrow afternoon with temperatures returning to seasonal norms while skies remain mostly sunny throughout the week in central parts of the country with the air getting drier again.

Good afternoon. Spring warmth is in full swing, temperature gaps are easily surpassing 15 degrees from the morning temperatures, it must be feeling like going through two seasons in one day for those in Gyeongju, from winter to early summer-like with highs jumping 23 degrees this afternoon.
Many southern parts of the country are having highs above 20 degrees Celsius under sunny skies nationwide. The early glimpse of mid-spring weather is enjoyable but not so much the dusty and dry air.
Stagnant air flow and dust from overseas are creating dustier conditions today.
Also, dryness in the air is showing no sign of easing up. 70% of this year's wildfires broke in just one month with nationwide accumulated precipitation of less than 15 millimeters. We have some rain in the forecast on Wednesday but it won't be enough to relieve the dryness in the air.
Don't put away your winter jackets just yet, abnormally warm temperatures will come to an end next week after nationwide rain that's in the forecast for Sunday.

Good afternoon. Today marks the 3rd spring term, Gyeongchip, and it will feel more like early to mid-April with afternoon highs going up 7 to 9 degrees higher than seasonal norms.
But of course, it's the very unwelcome dust level that will be high all day in central regions, Jeollabuk-do and Gwangju while an ultrafine dust advisory could be issued during the day.
And dryness in the air continues as well, east of G
angwon-do Province is under a dry weather warning, with strong wind increasing the risk of fire. Yesterday, many parts saw the warmest temperatures of the season so far and it could be warmer today, hovering 20 degrees Celsius in southern provinces and the east coast of Gangwon-do area. Mostly sunny skies are blurred with that dust.
It will be even warmer tomorrow in the capital topping out at 18 degrees, and the warming trend will continue throughout the week with spotty rain in the forecast tomorrow at dawn in Gyeonggi-do and Chungcheong-do Provinces.

Good afternoon. Dress in extra layers, we had a cold start with a cold wave advisory issued for some inland areas and Gangwon-do Province. Readings remain below normal all day and strong winds are dragging down feels-like temperatures a couple of notches lower than the thermometer readings. Most parts of Korea are under dry weather alerts, east of Gangwon-do Province is under a dry weather warning AND strong wind is not helping. It's forecast to be windier tomorrow in mountainous regions of Gangwon-do, with almost typhoon-force winds. Such conditions are likely to increase wildfire activity. Be extra careful. Afternoon temperatures are 2 to 5 degrees lower this afternoon reaching below 10 degrees Celsius in most areas under sunny skies with normal to good air quality. The brief cold snap lifts tomorrow then we can look forward to much warmer conditions with temperatures reaching the mid-teens in the capital by early next week with no significant rainfall in the forecast. Good afternoon. Dry spells become more impactful with strong winds east of Gangwon-do Province. We need to stay on high alert against wildfires, please. In fact, 1 out of 3 wildfires reported is caused by hikers.
It will continue to feel like we're going through two seasons in one day. Temperature gaps are wider for southern provinces as subzero temperatures this morning reached the mid to upper teens this afternoon. Especially, those in Gyeongju noticed temperatures jumping more than 20 degrees Celsius from the cold morning.
This morning's bad air quality has improved, while most areas are under mostly to partly sunny skies today.
Light rain and snow are in the forecast in the capital region, west of Gangwon-do and Jeju tomorrow but the amount won't be enough to ease the dryness in the air.
Tomorrow's precipitation will bring brief cold temperatures on Thursday morning then we can expect much more spring-like conditions from Friday.

Good afternoon. Fire concerns look to prevail for a while with reports of wildfires across Korea. Dryness in the air is getting worse and there is no significant rainfall in sight to ease the conditions. Be extra careful with anything that could start a blaze.
After a chilly start, temperatures are rising fast to reach double-digit figures in most parts of the country. But also notice wide temperature swings and do dress accordingly. Decisions over what to wear are quite confusing this time of year.
But it's that unwelcomed guest again. Fine dust levels look to be high in western parts of the country. The rest of the country is having decent air quality under bright skies.

Good afternoon. We are having warmer than average temperatures. But it's that very unpleasant dust that's covered most parts of Korea Have a face mask that can filter fine dust today then better airflow will help to push away the dust in the air from the capital region from late this afternoon.
Meanwhile, east of Gangwon-do Province is forecast to receive heavy snowfall into tomorrow with up to 15 centimeters of snow expected. Parts of Gyeongsangbuk-do, Ulleungdo and Dokdo could see up to 8 centimeters of heavy snowfall as well. Please be well prepared for the snow and stay safe.
Afternoon temperatures are similar to slightly lower than yesterday, hovering slightly above seasonal norms in most parts. Sunny skies are blurred with dust today.

Good afternoon. We had a more bearable start to the day and highs are also rising fast to reach double digits in southern parts of the country, beware of temperature swings, and do dress accordingly to avoid catching a cold.
Along with a mild afternoon, the capital, Chungcheong-do, Gyeongsangbuk-do and west of Gangwon-do Provinces will have dusty air today. It looks like getting even worse tomorrow.
Meanwhile, a dry weather advisory has been expanded to parts of Gyeongsangbuk-do Province with humidity levels going down below 35 percent in areas with a dry advisory in place.
Afternoon temperatures are similar to a tad higher than yesterday hovering above norms, bright skies are blurred with the dust in dust affected area. Jeju will see passing rain or snow tonight into tomorrow at dawn.
East of Gangwon-do Province to see another band of rain or snow tomorrow afternoon into Saturday. Due to easterly winds, snow could fall heavily in the area, be well prepared for that.

Good afternoon. We needed an extra layer this morning as most parts of the country had a subzero start to the day, then warmer temperatures are rolling in this afternoon with daily highs going up slightly higher than seasonal norms. Temperature gaps in Daegu could be as wide as 15 degrees.
Southern parts of the country are seeing double-digit highs under partly sunny skies during the day then there could be rain on Jeollanam-do and Gyeongsangnam-do late tonight into tomorrow at dawn.
The air quality will be decent today despite the rise in highs but south of Gyeonggi-do, and Chungcheongbuk-do Provinces, and Sejong will have bad air quality tonight. It will get worse tomorrow. Meanwhile, a dry weather advisory remains in place in the capital region and east of Gangwon-do Province. Then a mix of rain and snow is in the forecast on Friday in Gangwon-do and Jeju, the rest of the country remains under bright skies with more up and down temperatures expected. Good afternoon. Again we need the right gear for today's late winter cold
weather, it felt subzero all day in the capital yesterday but will be slightly higher this afternoon. Temperatures will be similar to a couple of notches lower than yesterday in southern parts of the country.
And along with sunny spells and cold wind a dry weather advisory has been issued in Seoul, Gyeonggi-do, and the east of Gangwon-do Province, so drink plenty of water.
Jeju and the south coast are under strong wind advisories.

Good afternoon. It's a much colder start to the new week, a sudden temperature drop is making it feel so much colder along with sharp winds. Afternoon highs are 3 to 5 degrees lower than Sunday.

eeling more like minus 10 and it will remain colder than seasonal norms through Wednesday morning. Other than chillier temperatures, sunshine will dominate nationwide with good air to breathe in. It will feel subzero in Seoul all day while southern provinces will have a much more bearable afternoon with Jeju Island under a strong wind advisory.
It's forecast to be quite windy on Jeju through tomorrow so be mindful of that. The cold snap eases as we head toward the end of the week with bright skies except on Jeju where rain is in the forecast from Thursday into Friday.

Good afternoon. Conditions will certainly vary depending on where you are today. Starting with snow, heavy snow in mountainous regions in Gangwon-do Province will continue into tomorrow morning with up to 20 centimeters expected and a heavy snow advisory issued.
Despite some precipitation, Chungcheongnam-do and Jeollabuk-do Provinces are seeing bad dust levels that will remain high all day.
Keep a face mask that can filter dust at hand today.
But the air quality should improve along with chillier air that's forecast to blow in from tonight, then morning temperatures will go 4 to 7 degrees lower tomorrow.

Good afternoon. We had a chillier start to the day, but highs are rising fast to reach double digits in most parts, hovering way above the norms again this afternoon.
Some much-needed rain is in store to wash away lingering dust and ease the dryness in the air. Starting from Jeju late this afternoon, gradually spreading to southern regions tonight, then expanding nationwide overnight before all letting up tomorrow afternoon.
The further south you are the heavier the rain you will see while Jeju and the south coast will also be quite windy from tonight so brace for that.
The rain will turn into snow overnight, mountainous regions on the east coast could see up to 15 centimeters of snowfall.
Central regions are seeing highs that are a couple of degrees higher today, while southern provinces are seeing similar afternoon highs to Wednesday under cloudier skies.
The warming trend continues into next Monday with more rain in store in the south on Sunday and next Monday.

Good afternoon. It was a dustier start to the day with an ultrafine dust advisory issued in most western parts of the country. The dust level will show improvement in the afternoon with southwesterly winds blowing in.
Daily highs are a couple of degrees lower than Tuesday but they are still hovering way above norms and the warming trend should continue into early next week.
Sunny skies are a feature across Korea, most of the dry weather alerts in the east have been lifted but southeast regions including Daegu and Busan remain under dry alerts.
Then we have some much-needed rain in the forecast from tomorrow on Jeju and southern regions, gradually spreading nationwide by Friday.
It will turn into snow in mountainous regions in the upper areas. Gangwon-do, and Gyeongsang-do Provinces could see up to 15 centimeters of heavy snowfall.
Frequent rain is in the forecast into early next week which will bring down temperatures to below norms again a week from now.

Good afternoon. West of central regions are breathing in bad to very bad air as dust in the air has risen today. Keep your face mask on, we will be breathing in bad air through the rest of the day. Here are some ways to protect yourself against bad air, drink plenty of water and wash your hands often, and try to avoid oil-based cooking at home on a day like today. Thankfully air quality will improve tomorrow.
Can't complain much about recent temperatures though. It was a milder start to the day, afternoon highs are also similar to yesterday, hovering way above the seasonal norms leading to big gaps in readings between lows and highs.
Double-digit highs for southern provinces while more clouds roll in this afternoon with the east of Gangwon-do province to see light passing rain which won't help much to ease the dryness in the air. Signs of spring continue with light precipitation in the forecast across Korea.

Good afternoon, temperatures remained chilly starting off below freezing this morning but most parts are having a seasonal afternoon and we'll see things warming up from tomorrow afternoon which is Ipchun the start of spring on the traditional calendar.
From a cloudy morning to a sunny afternoon with normal to good air quality nationwide. However, Ulleungdo and Dokdo are forecast to see a mix of rain and snow from late this afternoon into tonight. Meanwhile, dry air along the east coast gets worse with more regions now under dry weather alerts. if you are planning on going hiking or camping in eastern regions, be extra careful with anything that could start a fire.
The weather should be nice though from tomorrow. Saturday is Ipchun and Sunday is Daeboreum when we can see the first full moon of the new year on the lunar calendar skies will remain clear on Sunday so we won't have much of a problem checking it out.

Good afternoon. We had a bitterly cold start to the day with more regions under cold wave alerts, and afternoon highs are also 2 to 6 degrees lower than yesterday afternoon hovering right around the norms.
Biting winds are making it feel much colder than what the thermometer says, 1 to 4 degrees lower so dress in layers. We are seeing mostly sunny skies with improved air quality. Meanwhile, Ulleungdo and Dokdo will see a mix of rain and snow letting up.
East coast regions really need some precipitation as the dry weather alerts have been in place for two consecutive weeks including in Busan. Fire safety is a must and apply a good amount of moisturizer and drink plenty of water to stay hydrated.
The weather outlook looks uneventful with a gradual warming trend and Saturday marking Ipchun, the start of spring on the traditional calendar.
The skies will remain fairly bright with no precipitation in the forecast for east coast regions. With that, here's a look at the weather conditions around the globe.

The severe cold wave has subsided and milder temperatures are expected tomorrow. But for northern central regions, a group of snow clouds is lingering. Until tomorrow morning, inland regions of Gangwon-do Province will see 1 to 3 centimeters of snowfall. The surrounding regions may see light snowflakes flying around. For Seoul and southern Gyeonggi-do Province, raindrops will be seen, so make sure to have your umbrellas handy.
Meanwhile, for the East Coast, where there has been relatively less snowfall, dry conditions are persisting. In fact, dry weather advisories have been expanded to further parts of inland regions. Now, alerts are issued for Gyeongsang-do provinces and most of the coastlines. Gusty winds will also follow at times, which will increase the risk of wildfires. Please take extra precautions.
Tomorrow, Seoul will start off at minus 2 degrees Celsius.
Relatively mild conditions are expected for the daytime. Seoul will get up to 3 degrees. Gwangju 8. Busan and Jeju 12.
No extreme cold wave is in the forecast for the time being, with readings hovering around the seasonal norms.
