An AI tool developed in the UK can successfully determine whether abnormal growths seen in CT scans are cancerous!
This could speed up the detection of cancer, which could get people into treatment faster. That could mean the difference bet
ween life and death! And it’s not just about speed. In a recent study, using about five hundred CT scans for patients with lung nodules, this tool outperformed two commonly used tests in terms of accurately predicting cancer!
And, combined with t
he other tests, it would have successfully identified many high-risk patients. In fact, it would have recommended early intervention for eighteen of the twenty-two nodules that went on to be proven cancerous.
I know many have been worry about the development of AI and it's possible negative impact on the human race, but there are definitely some upsides as well!
