Currently halfway into his PhD candidature at the National University of Singapore, in the field of evolutionary biology, Yuchen Ang's research interest is in sexual selection. He studies the influence of sexual selection in the evolution of morphology between sexes. In between trekking into remote areas with a net in search of field samples, he spends the majority of his time staring into the tiny world of entomology via a microscope. Here at TEDxNUS 2010, he talks about insects and how mating happens in the insect kingdom. He shows the different strategies used by insects to reproduce, with humorous explanations for each. He shares the experiences that he gains during his research and also shows how sexual selection is very crucial for diversity in animals we see today.
